Duties
Develop, implement, train, evaluate, and affect improvements for the Uniform Business Office operations.
Interpret regulations prescribing and affecting administration of funds.
Balance cash daily, accounts monthly, and validate ledgers monthly to ensure that accounts are closed out and balanced, and that proper dispositions of funds are made.
Oversee the more complex Third-Party Collection and Medical Affirmative Claim bills.
Make personal determination of patient's eligibility to pay in-full or receive extensions of credit to make payments on account balances.
Balance daily transaction receipts and disbursements with electronic records.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position requires that the incumbent obtain and maintain the Financial Management Level 2 Certification within 365 days from the date of hire.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working with the collection of claim bills, validating account balances, and implementing procedures that work to improve insurance services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: business, healthcare administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
