About the Position: The Directorate of Public Works (DPW) provides infrastructure, engineering resources, housing and facility management support and services incorporating sustainable development. It's DPW's mission to ensure the long-term viability of the installation's ability to support the military commanders and joint base community, advancing environmental stewardship, community relations and quality of life.

Duties

Oversee the maintenance, repair and reliability of numerous systems and facilities directly supporting Army Tenants and other Department of Defense tenants at Fort Detrick. Manage all maintenance matters, planning, programming, and establishing deadlines and priorities Direct Work for Facility Maintenance and Repairs Provide technical guidance and assistance during malfunctions Performs supervisory duties such as, establishing performance standards, initiating requests for personnel actions, and interviewing and recommending selections of applicants Performs as Facilities Manager, making recommendations to higher headquarters for improvements to facilities.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
