About the Position: Facility Operations Manager for Museum Support Center-Belvoir (MSC-B), Formulates and puts into effect sustainable operations and maintenance plans, to include economical space operations and work management policies, criteria, and procedures. Maintains strict environmental controls and facility security for the storage and accountability of approximately 75,000 Army Artifacts. Maintains a safety program that is in compliance with Army Regulation and garrison policy.
Duties
Works with Fort Belvoir garrison Department of Public Works (DPW) and associated contractors to operate, maintain, and upgrade the MSC-B facilities, grounds and systems supporting Army Artifact storage.
Plan and implements engineering studies to investigate problems and provide proposed solutions.
Manage security at MSC-B and work with Fort Belvoir garrison Physical Security and associated contractors to maintain building security at MSC-B.
Manage the MSC-B safety program, and ensure all staff are trained in accordance with regulation.
Analyzes and evaluates personnel and equipment needs, present space assignment, maximum utilization, possible reassignment, furniture/tool/equipment reconfiguration, etc.
Requirements
- Incumbent may be required to work rotating shifts/weekends and 24-hour call out.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 35 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience which includes preserving museum artifacts to include environmental requirements for museum artifacts; utilizing security requirements for high value museum artifacts, state/federal safety regulations; maintaining HVAC, control systems, automated building and security systems; Identifying operating inefficiencies to achieve desired goals; submitting budget estimates for yearly budget cycle; reviewing space management and engineering survey reports to determine correct space utilization; planning major renovations or construction projects, based on forecasted building or land utilization.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
