Duties

Performs duties as a journey level Building Repairman A such as: Performs various maintenance, installation, and repair duties to include finish and rough carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, road repair, sandblasting, office and facility remodel and restoration, heavy equipment operation and infrastructure improvements. Performs various general housekeeping and facility maintenance tasks to include cleaning up work area, descaling, adding chemicals to applicable systems, etc., as well as other related duties to support the maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities. Performs preventive maintenance duties to include: installing and repairing locks; inspecting power plant and structures; repairing and cleaning tunnels, erecting scaffolding; repairing expansion joints; replacing and repairing fences and gates; loading, securing, and transporting material; replacing and installing road guardrails; repairing asphalt; inspecting and replacing filters; hanging wall items; installing and repairing signs; inventory tools, equipment and materials; installing bumper blocks and bollards in parking areas; inspecting and replacement air and water lines, and performing traffic control (flagman). Operates jib cranes and hoists, scissor lifts, forklifts, JLG type lifts, backhoes, dump trucks, skid steers and bucket truck as needed.

You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all of the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position. Position requires journeyman skill level in at least one of the following: carpentry, plumbing, masonry, or painting. Journey level is defined as 4 years or more of experience OR completing a 4-year apprenticeship. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a current, valid Driver License. Failure to provide proof of such license will cause you to be rated ineligible for this position. You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 11/27/2023.
