As a Supervisory Program Specialist (Section Chief) you will assists the Division Chief and Assistant Division Chiefs in planning, organizing, scheduling and directing all functions performed in the Centralized Support Division.
Duties
MAJOR DUTIES:
Assist in the responsibility for the division as it relates to handling inquires for information from claim folders.
Conduct routine studies, surveys and analysis of the methods and procedures used to manage workflow, space, and equipment .
Responsible for the full realm of delegated supervisory responsibilities concerning human resource management related actions.
Provide direction, executive guidance and leadership in providing effective methods to support the mission and program objectives.
Proficient use of multiple independent systems owned by VA such as the Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS), PIES system, Centralized Mail, SHARE, and Virtual VA as well as other systems owned by the National Personnel Records Centers (NPRC).
Possess the ability to apply pertinent laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and judicial determinations related to Freedom of information Act and Privacy Act disclosures.
Demonstrate the ability in planning, organizing, managing projects and prioritizing work under time constraints and stressful situations.
Demonstrate leadership skills by managing and/or supervising (plan, organize, direct, etc.) the work activities of subordinates.
Possess the ability to present professional and technical information in a clear, logical, and concise manner both orally and in writing.
Utilize software applications to perform statistical analysis of program/issues and preparing reports and briefings.
Work Schedule: Regular office hours, 7:30am-4:00pm; Alternate work schedules are available.

To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation at the journeyman level of this position with little to no training or supervision. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) Interpreting, applying and explaining laws, rules regulations, and procedures, as it applies to veteran's benefits services; (2) Planning, organizing, and assigning work priorities for subordinates; (3) Securing benefits for veterans using FOIA, Privacy Act, etc.; (4) Experience providing advice, counsel, mentor or train team members; (5) Use of software applications to perform statistical analysis of programs/issues and preparing reports and briefings.
