The Program Support Assistant provides administrative and technical support to the Decision Review Operations Center Manager (DROCM)and Assistant Decision Review Operations Center Managers (ADROCM) in areas of administration that may include, personnel administration and data processing.

Duties

Major Duties: Research and provide responses concerning the application of established policies, management processes and procedures. Respond in a timely manner to administrative issues brought to the attention of the Decision Review Operation Center Manager. Establish and maintain confidential and personal files for the Decision Review Operation Center Manager. Monitors correspondence, communication, and reports generated by the Decision Review Operation Center Manager to ensure effective work flow by the various DROC components. Responds to a variety of personal, telephone, and written inquiries, including those regarding general procedures and policies of the Department, as well as the benefits administered. Prepares forms, documents, training requests and other various administrative related documents that are needed to meet reporting requirements or to support claims or applications for benefits. Manage the Decision Review Operation Center Manager office schedule and day to day plans. Responsible for reviewing internal correspondence for accuracy and completeness. Assists with time and attendance and travel related tasks. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/23/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Provide a copy of your last or most recent SF-50, "Notification of Personnel Action" to indicate your current federal status. You must also submit additional SF-50(s) to clearly demonstrate one year time-in-grade as required in the announcement. If the most recent non-award SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate that you possess one year time-in-grade. In this instance, you must provide an additional non-award SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one year time-in-grade. If you previously held a higher grade, you must also submit any SF-50 showing that grade. You may qualify based on your experience is described below: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have 1 (one) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-6) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as experience providing clerical and administrative support to an office, to include typing a variety of correspondence, greeting customers, and maintaining office files OR experience researching and reviewing available records/documents and piecing together pertinent information from a variety of sources. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work normally involves mental rather than physical exertion. The work is mostly sedentary. However, there may be some walking, standing, and carrying of light items such as papers, books, claims folders, and files from one desk to another or for returning to storage. Carts are utilized to carry large number of claims folders. This will require the incumbent to push or pull the cart from one area to another.
