About the Position: Act as the senior civilian advisor to Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (DASA) Defense Exports and Cooperation (DE&C); provide policy formulation and decision-making advice, provide advice on diplomatic, politico-military, and economic developments in international affairs, offer specific guidance on their implications concerning DASA(DE&C) mission and tasks, located at Arlington, Virginia.
Duties
Responsible for advising the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (DASA) Defense Exports and Cooperation (DE/C) and senior DOD officials on political matters related to national security and defense policy.
Ensure Army SC enterprise is shaping strategic interactions with allies and partners with a comprehensive understanding of the potential political impacts of actions.
Develop and implement strategies to advance DOD objectives in the political arena, including building relationships with key stakeholders, managing public perception, and assessing political landscape.
Coordinate with government agencies, congressional offices, external organizations to promote DOD policy agenda and ensure effective communication/collaboration.
Produce policy briefs on political issues related to national security and defense policy.
Develop outreach plans for engaging with key stakeholders, including government officials, military leaders, and civil society organizations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes advising the organization and senior officials on political matters related to national security and defense policy; developing strategies to advance objectives in the political arena; and producing policy briefs on political issues related to national security and defense policy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-03 or GS-13).
*This is a DOD Demonstration Project position. Under the Defense Authorization Act, personnel management demonstration programs are operating in numerous Army activities and various other organizations supported by Army civilian personnel centers. Under the streamlined personnel operations for the demonstration projects, the familiar 15 General Schedule grade structure is replaced with broad pay bands that typically encompass a range of grades. For example, acquisition jobs in level NH-4 of broad banding encompass the traditional GS-14 through GS-15 grades. Other initiatives under the demonstration projects include simplified job classification, streamlined hiring processes, and expanded developmental opportunities.
