You will serve as a Motor Vehicle Operator in the Southwest Region Fleet Transportation of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will drive platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, or dump trucks, which typically have a GVW between 26,000 to 32,000 pounds, on public roads at highway speeds. You will drive passenger buses which carry 16 or more passengers on regularly scheduled routes or specific trip assignments, at highway speeds in urban and rural areas on federal, state, country roads and city streets in all traffic conditions. You will operate trash removal trucks, such as those with a rear end compactor plate to pick up and dispose of trash and refuse. You will operate refueling vehicles (unitized tanker type) to refuel equipment. You will drive forklifts and heavy forklift trucks over rough and sometimes muddy terrain through narrow aisles in outside storage areas. You will operate small, self-propelled, electric battery powered or LPG industrial sweeper inside buildings and warehouses, and in outside areas sch as streets and walkways.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You must possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • You must obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License tanker endorsement within 90 days of entrance on duty and maintained throughout employment.
  • You must obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License passenger endorsement within 180 days of entrance on duty and maintained throughout employment.
  • You may be required to be recalled to duty.
  • You must obtain and maintain a valid forklift operator's license up to a capacity of 4,000 pounds within 90 days of entry on duty.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the Work of the Position without More than Normal Supervision. Sample duties of this position include: Performing operator maintenance such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, and cleaning and washing vehicles.
