Duties

Serve as Program Director within the OM and provides direction and oversight for all aspects of the assigned programs and services for NCI. Direct the planning, design, innovation, and development of new and existing programs or initiatives to maximize organizational potential and meet the needs of NCI organizations, teams, and individuals. Oversee the development and implementation of policies and guidance for supervisors to effectively apply new HHS and/or NIH guidance on assigned programs. Maintain updated key program resources such as an electronic website for staff to identify and access program resources. Write and publish reference materials, and other written work as resources for internal and external consumers. Provide leadership and oversight in advising and consulting with NCI management on a broad range of critical issues relating to the integration of program responsibilities with interrelated workflow processes across the organization based on the Institute's program priorities. Exercise the full range of first and second-level supervisory responsibilities over the staff of the assigned management program, including: direct, coordinate, and oversee the work of the subordinate supervisors; set and adjust priorities and timeframes for completion of work; plan and assign work to subordinate supervisors.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following specialized experience requirement: In order to qualify for a Supervisory Program Specialist position at the GS-15 level, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: managing and directing management programs and operations for an organization; providing guidance and consultation to management officials on integrated management programs, policies, and procedures involving workforce programs, human capital programs, policy and compliance activities; conducting studies and reviews to improve the effectiveness and productivity of management programs and policies; coordinating with other organizations, officials, and staff on management programs, operations, procedures, and analyses; and providing supervision and direction to other staff.
