Duties

Responsible for coordinating the delivery of investigative and technical support services for the Supervisory Special Agents and Special Agents within the Office of Internal Affairs. Analyzes incoming information received by mail, telephone, facsimile and electronic mail to determine if the information relates to a currently active case of closed inquiry. Responsible for ensuring that information is accurately evaluated and forwarded to the appropriate Internal Affairs staff for further action. Responsible for analyzing, filing, and retrieving complex and sensitive investigative documents. Responsible for determining the status of inquiries and ensuring that investigative records are accurate and up to date.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: GS-07: One full year of graduate level education OR Superior Academic Achievement. GS-09: Master’s or equivalent graduate degree OR two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR Experience: GS-07 and GS-09: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: GS-07: Use of a computerized database system to enter new data, and to track, manage and update data entered. Use of a computerized database to research, interpret and prepare responses for requested information. Experience establishing and maintaining electronic and manual filing systems meeting regulatory requirements concerning retention of materials and internal needs of having information readily available and appropriately organized. GS-09: Independently establishing work flow and priority methods and procedures to determine work to be completed and setting priorities to complete that work. Applying non-routine complex fact finding, analytical and problem-solving methods and techniques. Preparing, reviewing and editing reports, memos and correspondences to various internal and external individuals and agencies. Use of a computerized system and/or database system to research, analyze and interpret investigative findings. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Have a combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience.
