The position will serve as the Co-Director of Research Methodology Core (RMC) in VA Research and Development (R&D) Service at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital (JAHVH)in Tampa, FL overseeing research methodologists in the quantitative, qualitative, and informatics division. The position will be responsible for providing oversight to RMC personnel in support of all research methodology activities at JAHVH at all stages of development.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following.
Strategic and Long-Term Planning 25%
The Co-Director of Research Methodology Core will work with all JAHVH principal investigators and research stakeholders to develop methodology plans for grants submissions including stakeholder engagement activities, executive staffing for funded submissions, evaluate research progress relative to staffing levels, monitor funding levels for staffing, and transition RMC personnel following completion of specific research projects and other related translational and operational activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities 50%
The Co-Director of Research Methodology Core will work with the JAHVH R&D staff to develop, coordinate, disseminate (which includes education of non-R&D administrators, providers and veterans and their families), implement, monitor, and evaluate the research methodology activities (including quantitative, qualitative, and other informatics personnel). The position will effectively work as a resource person for all questions concerning research support for all JAHVH research which involves methodologists including biostatisticians, anthropologists, and informaticists.
Research 25%
Protected research time is provided to the incumbent, and s/he is expected to serve in a collaborative manner as a methodologist as a PI or Co-I in independent, funded collaborative programs of research that is consistent with the mission of VA. The incumbent will be capable of performing research projects as an independent investigator or senior methodologist in qualitative data collection, analyses, and dissemination. Review of performance is only in terms of the quality, quantity and relevance of published research work, funding, and VA service.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

To qualify you MUST meet the below requirements.
Basic Requirement
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.

AND
GS-13 EXPERIENCE: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service that includes providing oversight to research personnel in support of all research methodology activities at all stages of development; working with R&D staff to develop, coordinate, implement, monitor, and evaluate the research methodology activities (including quantitative, qualitative, and other informatics personnel).

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary with no strenuous physical demands, light filing and walking to and from offices. The candidate must be able to work in an office environment and hospital setting as the position requires and service mission evolves.
