Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
As an Aging Services Program Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:
Working with the Office of Grants Management (OGM) and other DHHS (Department of Health and Human Services) offices in the management of grants and contracts.
Performing in a liaison role with other Federal agencies and national organizations with the responsibility for providing factual information based on standard policies and regulations of the Administration on Aging (AoA) and Administration for Community Living (ACL).
Identifying policy issues that impact on the development and delivery of community-based services to meet the needs of older Americans.
Providing assistance to other Federal agencies, private agencies and individuals seeking information about older Americans, including Native American elders.
** Duties as shown are at the full performance level (FPL) of the GS-13. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the FPL.

Qualifications
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Basic Qualifications: Must meet one of the items listed below:
Possess a 4-year bachelor's or higher degree in behavioral or social science from an accredited college or university; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Must provide transcripts)
Possess a combination of education and experience -- that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Must provide transcripts)
Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Minimum Qualifications:
For GS-09:
Specialized Experience: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing at least two (2)of the following:
Applying regulations, policies and/or standard operating procedures.
Reviewing and compiling older adult health, wellness and/or nutritional information to summarize findings in writing and/or reports.
Planning, scheduling, and conducting projects, work processes, and/or administrative activities.

Education: Successful completion of at least two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Master's degree or Master's or LL.B. or J.D., if related to the position in an accredited U.S. education program. One (1) year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours determined by the school attended. If that number cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester or 27 quarter hours will satisfy an academic year of graduate study. Combination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. You must include transcripts.
For GS-11:
Specialized Experience: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service performing at least two (2)of the following:
Overseeing grants or contracts, including monitoring of performance, and oversight for health, wellness and/or nutritional programs.
Utilizing project officer/management techniques to plan, schedule and conduct projects, work processes, and administrative activities.
Developing and maintaining relationships to promote the exchange of information impacting policy on the aging community.

Education: Successful completion of at least three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in an accredited U.S. education program. One (1) year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours determined by the school attended. If that number cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester or 27 quarter hours will satisfy an academic year of graduate study.
