Duties
In this Mission Support Specialist position, you will strengthen the Division's ability to protect the homeland by becoming a valuable member of a team of administrative professionals. As a member of the team, you will use your expertise in administration and human resources to provide technical and advisory services to US Customs and Border Protection Management.
This position starts at a salary of $64,957.00 (GS-9, Step 1) to $84,441.00 (GS-9, Step 10) with promotion potential to $84,441 (GS-12 Step 10).

Duties: Typical duties you will perform in this position are:
Implementing, coordinating, and/or overseeing a variety of program activities impacting the Division.
Supporting the development and evaluation of operations functions such as screening emails, direct inquiries, taskings, human capital, and development of internal Division procedures to support National Programs Division.
Providing administrative support services to NPD management relating to the application of planning systems and management programs specific to retirement and benefits, workers' compensation, and medical and fitness branch to meet the mission requirements of the Division.
Maintaining overall control of the director's schedule. Assisting Director with preparing for meetings with senior leadership, labor unions, program offices, and other government agencies as required.
Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Establishing priorities, identifying facts, organizing pertinent precedents, applying them to current situations, and providing completed staff work in the form of advice, guidance, integrated work plans, proposed courses of action, and documents ready for signature.
Working proficiency with standard computer tools (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite) to develop and maintain various electronic files and create staffing reports, word processing documents, PowerPoint presentations, and spreadsheets.
Communicating both orally and in writing with all levels of management and employees, and the ability to display well-balanced, accurate judgement.

Education Substitution: Successfully completed two or more years of full-time graduate education or a master's (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university or an LL.B. or J.D. I understand that I am required to submit proof of my claim.

You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 11/20/2023.
