About the Position: You will work as a Carpenter Supervisor in the Directorate of Systems Integration and Support.
Duties
Explain new work techniques to fabric workers and carpenters.
Inspect structures and furnishings to determine needed repairs or the practicability of proposed changes.
Establish short term and long-term planning for the overall use of personnel, equipment, facilities, and required materials.
Provide information and advice to management regarding manpower, resources, and budget in the completion of fabric and carpentry workload.
Inspect the measuring of cut materials that requires modification of dimensions.
Review and analyze work accomplishments and evaluate work progress of fabric and carpentry work.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position may be subject to a one-year probationary period.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to lead or supervise the work of Carpenters and Fabric Workers. I have the ability to supervise common tasks performed by subordinate employees in relation to carpentry and fabric work. I have assigned work to employees and provide technical direction and assistance in analysis/diagnosis, overhaul, modification, and final alignment of carpentry related equipment which is linked or interrelated. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below.
