About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.
Duties
Develop, coordinate, and manage United States Military (USMA) cadet Advanced Individual Academic Development (AIAD) programs and Conferences for Department of Behavioral Science and Leadership.
Develop and manage web-based, marketing, and strategic communications for the department, with primary focus on web presence through the internal departmental website.
Research, evaluate, and advise leadership on study opportunities for USMA cadets at domestic and foreign organizations.
Coordinate with the U.S. Corps of Cadets (USCC) and Hosting Organizations to establish AIAD opportunities for USMA cadets.
Monitor academic and physical status of USMA cadets while involved in AIAD programs.
Develop and manage Department of Behavioral Science and Leadership sponsored and coordinated conferences.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 pounds in the regular performance of duties.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Developing, coordinating, and/or managing conferences; 2) Coordinating domestic and/or foreign travel arrangements, 3) Monitoring financial and/or budgetary operations for domestic and/or foreign travel.
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Education, Business, or another related field.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
