About the Position: This position is located at Jacksonville Naval Hospital, Duval, Florida.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties
Registers patients in CHCS, using all information screens in the automated system.
Performs admission and disposition functions in the Composite Health Care System (CHCS), or the current automated system in use at the MTF.)
Must be well-trained in this system and understand the significance of the data entered into the system as it pertains to measuring the hospital's productivity and workload and its impact on the ability to track patient information.
Continued interaction with patients and family members as well as hospital staff is required.
Creates, tracks and deletes medical records in the automated system.
Analyzes medical records for internal consistency and compliance with regulations.
Exams Documents to ensure proper sequence of documents, authorized signatures and the forms in the record all belong to the same patient.
Performs quality reviews on medical records and has good working knowledge of terminal digit filing system and release of information.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which may include knowledge in medical terminology and medical records, and duties such as providing customer service; observing Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act guidelines; analyzing, processing, and maintaining medical records; compiling or extracting medical records data using various office automation systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
