You will serve as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Supervisor in the Production Support Division of MAINTENANCE CENTER ALBANY.

Duties

You will plan, schedule, observe and monitor ongoing production-oriented work on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis. You will coordinate with production control and support shops to meet schedules and goals. You will ensure work is completed within estimated budget of hours and materials and that all workmanship and products meet requirements. You will review quality related data and based on observed trends, improve work methods and workmanship as needed. You will assign work to subordinates based on priorities, the difficulty of the work to be performed, and the capabilities of employees. You will perform inspection of repair, modification, and/or rebuild work done by others on a variety of Combat Vehicles, Amphibious Assault Vehicles, Heavy Mobile Equipment, Engineering Equipment, mobile equipment and/or related components.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Certified Product Inspector (CPI) certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to sign a mobility agreement to accept relocation to other geographic locations if required by the employer.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Lead Or Supervise, performing duties such as: Tracing and locating defects, which cause hydraulic and other major systems to fail or not perform up to specifications. Using and maintaining tools and equipment needed to repair and maintain Combat Vehicles, Heavy Mobile Equipment and components. Developing and improving processes and procedures to monitor the effectiveness and productivity of the unit supervised. Planning and organizing work to meet deadlines. Accessing information through the use of a personal computer.
