About the Position: Serves as a Records and Information Management Specialist for IMCOM, Army Support Activity (ASA), Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties

Execute subprograms of the Records Management Program, to include the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA), Freedom of Information (FOIA) and Privacy Acts (PA), and various elements of the Publications Management, Forms Management. Plans, coordinates and directs accomplishment of various programs and functions that relate to records management, PRA, FOIA, PA, and publications and forms matters. Ensures that record-keeping requirements are considered in all new, manual or automated systems or requirements that are developed within the U.S. Army Support Activity, JBSA and tenant activities. Ensures proper disposition of records consistent with Federal and Command policies and procedures. Evaluates program effectiveness by making sound recommendations to modify or revise procedures to ensure effective and economical programs. Operates, maintains, and oversees the operations of the installation Records Holding Area (RHA). Serves as publications control/forms management officer for the command-created publications and forms in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 25-30 and DA Pamphlets Pam 25-40.

  • This position has a travel requirement of at least 15%.
  • This position requires that the employee pass a pre-employment physical examination.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in providing status reports and technical advice to the leadership on matters related to the records management program; implementing records management principles and practices including the collection, maintenance, amendment, and disposition of records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations; and issuing guidance to staff regarding regulatory guidelines pertaining to the maintenance and/or disposition of records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
