The Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic position is located within the Engineering Service. The incumbent performs extensive control work such as checking, troubleshooting, adjusting, modifying and relocating pneumatic, electric and electronic controls, HVAC systems and components, refrigeration systems and components, pump and piping systems necessary to maintain the Medical Center and its diverse equipment.
Duties
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT until February 15, 2024. Qualified applicants will be considered and referred as vacancies become available. The first cut-off will be December 06, 2023, and bi-weekly thereafter.
As the Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic, the incumbent is required to possess and maintain a valid Universal Technician Certification at all time of his/her employment. The incumbent's duties will include, but are not limited to:
Diagnose, repair, and make alterations on the air handling equipment, air duct system, chilled water system, pumps, refrigeration, condensate water system, air conditioning controls, makeup water system, condensate drain system, cooling tower facilities, and all types of refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
Basic computer skills in order to operate a building management system, monitoring and controlling all types of Utility Systems.
Work with refrigeration systems and all related components and the tools of the trade including compound gauges, vacuum pumps, recovery machines, oxygen/acetylene torches etc.
Read and interpret blueprints and drawings in order to properly diagnose and troubleshoot related problems.
Work with electrical metering equipment in order to troubleshoot controls and HVAC equipment.
Calculate the cubic feet of an area and measuring air flow in order to determine air changes per hour and know the relationship between positive and negative air flow.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
