This position is located in the Mail Room at both the Puget Sound and American Lake VA Medical Center Divisions.
Duties

Some of the duties and responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):
Performs processing functions of incoming or outgoing mail and packages for the Puget Sound VA Medical Center and associated Clinical and Research programs within the Medical Center.
Receives, separates, sorts, and coordinates all functions involving mail for Research Centers at the Puget Sound VA Medical Center.
Improves mail methods, procedures, and systems such as adapting or changing established mail procedures and mail relationships.
Assesses all outgoing Puget Sound VA and associated Research Center mail for proper and complete addressing, proper labeling and packaging for postal service compliance.
Processes all time sensitive-delivery packages; ensuring all safety restrictions and requirements are observed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, applicants must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications:
EXPERIENCE: Possess one full year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position. OR
EDUCATION: Successfully completed two years of education above the high school level. NOTE TO APPLICANTS: this education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: Requires long periods of walking, standing, stooping, stretching, pushing, bending, lifting, and carrying heavy items to deliver to off station entities. Individual is required to lift up to 40 pounds and with assistance, parcels up to 70 pounds. Some work is sedentary in nature.
