This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Director of Operations Logistics, Base Seattle, Seattle, WA.
Duties
The incumbent is responsible for the effective handling of all mail that arrives at, and is sent from, the Base. This includes mail from/for the Base, all tenant units, and contractors located aboard the Base. As Mail Clerk, the incumbent is vested with the responsibility for carrying out the mail program in the most efficient and economical manner.

- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license.
- Must complete the Base's emergency response duties.
Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-05 level:
You qualify for the GS-05 level if you possess the following:
A. One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 level that demonstrates the ability to maintain a file system; improve mail and/or file methods, procedures, and systems such as establishing new file procedures or systems; serving as an expert in several aspects of a unit's mail operation including mail policies and procedures.
OR
B. Four (4) years of successfully completed education above high school level.
OR
C. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and specialized experience may be used to meet the qualification requirements. Only progressive education in excess of the first 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours (i.e., beyond the first two years) of a course of study is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
