This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The AK District is seeking to fill an Interdisciplinary position. An ideal candidate will have experience in preparing, reviewing, and evaluating human health and ecological risk assessments using CERCLA guidance. A background in toxicology, chemistry, and statistics is required.

Duties

This is a developmental position; duties listed below will be performed in a developmental capacity at the GS-12 grade level. At the full performance, GS-13, the incumbent will: Serve as the lead risk assessor in the Environmental Engineering Branch and recognized technical authority for the District on all human health and ecological risk assessment issues within the district's regional area of responsibility. Stays abreast of current literature, trends, and emerging technology relating to HTRW and other environmental risk assessments. Is responsible for technical review or development of human health and ecological risk assessment aspects of documents for Alaska District HTRW projects and as an expert technical adviser to customers as requested. Prepares and presents clear, concise, and informative briefings and presentations to regulators, general public, and project teams on various aspects of the health and ecological effects of hazardous, toxic, or radiological chemicals, and other waste
