Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As an Aging Services Program Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Performing liaison role with agencies and national organizations with the responsibility for providing aging and disability related activities. Identifying program or policy issues and make recommendations to modify development and delivery of long-term services and supports for individuals living in long-term care facility settings. Serving as program manager for grants and contracts, responsible for the review of proposals, monitoring of grantee and contractor in fulfilling requirements of grants/contracts. Providing assistance to other Federal agencies, private agencies and individuals seeking information about aging programs and policies.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Must meet one of the items listed below: Possess a 4-year bachelor's or higher degree in behavioral or social science from an accredited college or university; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Must provide transcripts) Possess a combination of education and experience -- that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Must provide transcripts) Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Minimum Qualifications: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing at least two (2) of the following: Interpreting legislation and/or proposed policies to determine impact on program operations for home and community-based services for older adults. Serving as a program manager or project officer for aging-related grants or contracts, including monitoring of performance, and oversight. Conducting data analysis, including review of Older American Act program data, and/or other sources of data to determine future programmatic and policy direction. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment.
