You will serve as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Supervisor in the Forward Branch, Production Support Division, Marine Depot Maintenance Command Albany, Marine Corps Logistics Command, Jacksonville, Florida. TEMPORARY PROMOTION, NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR; MAY BECOME PERMANENT WITHOUT FURTHER COMPETITION

Duties

You will plan, schedule, observe, and monitor ongoing production-oriented work on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis. You will ensure work is completed within estimated budget of hours and materials and that all workmanship and products meet requirements. You will approve the expenditure of resources by the unit(s) supervised by such actions as approving time for indirect and direct labor charges, authorizing the issue of tools and equipment, and authorizing material requests. You will ensure all vehicles, equipment and components meet all operational parameters, specified tolerances and safety factors; you will ensure that all aspects of the organization's quality program are complied with. You will find ways to improve production or increase the quality of work directed by reviewing quality-related data based on observed trends and improving work methods and workmanship as needed. You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work. You will inspect the repair, modification, and/or rebuild work performed by others on a variety of combat vehicles, amphibious assault vehicles, heavy mobile equipment, engineering equipment, and/or related components. You will provide technical guidance; evaluate work performance; identify training needs; interview/select candidates for vacancies; recommend promotions and awards; approve leave; resolve disciplinary issues and administer EEO policies.

  • You may be required to work overtime and overtime on an emergency basis.
  • You may be recalled to duty.
  • You will be required to possess the applicable license(s) or authorization(s) to operate assigned equipment.
  • You will be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft and other forms of transportation.
  • You will be required to maintain certification as a Certified Product Inspector (CPI). CPI certification is required to perform various types of product and workmanship inspections. Inspection is verified by written and visual testing and evaluation.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to Lead or Supervise as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Supervisor, WS-5803-10 performing duties as a Journeyman or Lead associated with the maintenance, repair, rebuild and modification of combat and heavy duty vehicles and related equipment. I have performed work that includes but is not limited to: Determining sequence, priorities and deadlines of scheduled assignments; Estimating material, equipment and manpower needs; Developing and implementing work and safety procedures; Executing operational administrative functions such as scheduling and approving leave, evaluating work performance, deciding conduct-related matters, and administering Equal Employment Opportunity principles and practices.
