The Custodian performs a variety of cleaning, housekeeping, and semiskilled duties for UH facilities: facility cleaning, equipment maintenance, laundering, minor facility repairs, outdoor maintenance; and maintaining inventories of cleaning supplies. They deliver supplies, merchandise, and equipment to other UH facilities. As needed, they move furniture and/or program equipment, and assists with event setup (e.g., setting up tables and chairs.)

Duties

Ensures security of all guests is maintained at all times. Must possess a welcoming manner and positive attitude: demonstrate effective communication skills. Performs custodial duties as required inside and outside of buildings including but not limited to, trash/garbage removal, sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, washing walls/windows, and sanitizing bathrooms. Cleans all lobbies, passageways, stairwells, laundry rooms, public restrooms, and other common use areas in and around the building. Performs deep cleaning as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
• Ability to sustain considerable walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 45 pounds.
• Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English both verbally and in writing with management, staff and guests.

Skill to operate, clean, and make adjustments to powered cleaning equipment. Physical ability to move furniture, lift and move objects over 45 1bs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communication skill.
