About the Position: The position is located at Naval Hospital Pensacola, FL. The daily hours will consist of an eight hour morning shift with occasional opportunities for overtime Monday through Friday, 0730-1600. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Serves as a member of the infection control (Environment of Care) and other related committees. Assigns work and provides technical direction and helps in accomplishing difficult work steps. Observes work in progress to anticipate, resolve problems, reassigns personnel and coordinates work among the workforce; as well as with other supervisors to maintain progress and meet schedules. Ensures subordinates comply with housekeeping standard operating procedures and hospital directives. Inspects completed work for quality and work order requirements. Investigates work-related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determine causes. Implements actions to resolve work problems, subordinate misconduct and/or poor performance. Reports possible or actual work delays to higher level supervisors.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. A candidate selected to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
  • Day shift required .
  • Incumbent must lift and move objects over 40lbs and occasionally objects weighing over 80lbs.
  • The incumbent performs considerable walking, standing, reaching and kneeling.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • This position is inclement weather essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Housekeeping Aid Supervisor, without more than normal supervision. Ability to supervise within a Hospital Housekeeping Department. I can explain work requirements, methods, procedures; instruct subordinates in new procedures and provides assistance when problems arise; identify training needs to ensure employees are educated on regulations and techniques; conduct corrective interviews with employees and refers disciplinary problems to supervisor; ensure subordinates comply with established safety procedures ; ensuring that adequate cleaning and housekeeping duties are completed; and select workers and assigns tasks to be performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires continual standing and walking for prolonged periods of time, frequently stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling, and bending. Maybe required to work on ladders and perform heavy work such as scouring large size cooking utensils and moving heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in kitchen areas where steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably hot temperatures and humidity. The work area is well-lighted, but usually hot and noisy from food service activities. Worker is exposed to steam, fumes, and odors from cooking and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units. There is danger of slipping on wet floors that have been recently mopped or where food has been spilled. The worker is regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units.
