Qualifications

In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below: To qualify for the GS-15 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-14 level defined as planning and leading projects for state or local climate protection programs; and advising on energy strategies and policies. Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of environmental policy or economics analysis; 2) Skill in program development; 3) Knowledge of state and local energy and environment programs; 4) Ability to collaborate on national environmental issues; 5) Ability to advise on climate and energy programs and policies; 6) Knowledge of federal, state, local, tribal, and industry Clean Energy and air quality programs; 7) Skill in building and sustaining partnerships with diverse stakeholders; 8) Ability to analyze issues related to energy and climate policies and programs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education

A bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in the following areas listed below: 

Social Scientist (Environmental Policy Analyst): You must have a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position; OR a combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major, as listed; OR four years of experience that demonstrate you have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major, as listed.

Economist: You must have a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in economics with at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus; OR a combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major, as listed.
