You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Safety Directorate of NAVTECHTRACENDET.
Duties
You will assist in the investigation of mishaps, maintains records, and evaluates data to detect trends and patterns. Analyzes accident /mishaps reports, performs job statistical data, and prepares charts, tables and reports.
You will perform inspections and conduct surveys on all aspects of the facilities, equipment and operations for which NTTC Lackland has responsibility.
You will Identifies hazards and undesirable operational conditions, recommending corrective action to increase the effectiveness of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
You will resolve serious conflicts between operational requirements and the application of safety and occupational health standards.
You will be responsible for ensuring NTTC Lackland High-Risk Training Safety Officers (HR-TSOs) are properly trained, per applicable instructions, and designated in writing.
You will formulate techniques for determining the effectiveness of safety efforts on a continuing basis. Administers an evaluation and self-assessment program and objective criteria to measure the degree of safety compliance throughout the command.
Requirements

- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Ability to identify and assess potential or actual hazards of an agent, object or activity that could cause or is causing negative safety outcomes. 2) Knowledge of High Risk Training and occupational health management in the prevention of mishaps during course instruction. 3) Ability to assist in the investigation of accident/mishaps, records maintenance and evaluation of data to detect patterns. 4) Seek, generate and evaluate alternative perspectives and solutions, make recommendations based on findings and report them to higher authority. 5) Knowledge of risk assessment methods and techniques and ability to apply them in the training environment. 6) Knowledge of Navy Safety and Occupational Health (NAVSOH) policies, principles, practices, procedures, laws, and regulations applicable to high-risk training.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
