The Justice Management Division, Office of the Human Resources (HR) Director is seeking to hire a Human Resources Specialist to research and promote HR cross-functional innovation opportunities, perform special studies, and provide expert advisory guidance and support on complex HR issues.

The duties and responsibilities of a Human Resources Specialist (Senior Advisor) generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Develop Human Resources strategies for transformation and continual evolution to improve operational excellence, customer service, and community collaboration. Provide analytical and strategic support for the evaluation and implementation of HR innovation opportunities. Coordinate staff actions and ensures taskers, and correspondence and other deliverables are timely, complete, and meet program requirements. Provide recommendations to improve Justice Management Division HR operational efficiency and customer support. Advise management in planning, establishing, and maintaining program activities. Coordinate meetings, conferences, and special events to foster improved communication with DOJ components.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
  • Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Human Resources Specialist (Senior Advisor) at (GS-0201-15), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to. If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or equivalent band in the Federal service, which includes: Performing policy or operations work in at least two of the following Human Resources functional areas: classification, recruitment and staffing, compensation, performance management, workforce planning, or HR information technology; Assessing the efficiency or effectiveness of HR program operations; and Developing strategies to resolve issues that impact HR program goals or objectives.
