Located in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Office of Maritime Southeast Asia (EAP/MTS). The Program Assistant directly supports the office staff and indirectly supports the additional permanent members of the staffed team in their daily activities with maintaining and supporting the work performed in the Office. This includes correspondence and information control, tracking of equipment, supplies and services.
Duties
Serves as the primary administrative facilitator for all actions related to EAP/MTS.
Serves as the day-to-day point of contact for a range of EAP/MTS Office and Administrative issues and demands including customer contact and scheduling meetings and appointments.
Makes essential recommendations based on review and analysis of operations and implement procedural or policy changes to improve operations, such as office supply or program support requirements and or the disposal of EAP/MTS records.
Provides support to the Office Director and the senior staff by developing, proofreading and editing memoranda, documents, and other general and technical materials.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
Applicants applying for the GS-08 grade level must have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience serving as liaison to central administrative staff.
Experience planning and coordinating a variety of general support services in support of the work of an office;
Experience maintaining the location, arrangement, access to, and disposition of records.
AND
Must be able to type a minimum of 40 wpm with no more than 3 errors. Note: Individuals may be required to take a typing exam.
Education Substitution: As a general rule, education is not creditable at this level for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
