This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. The Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program Senior Social Worker helps develop and implement the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program specific to his/her area of assignment and ensures compliance and collaboration with local facility and the VA Central Office Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program initiatives. Provide administrative support in partnership with or in the absence of the IPVAP Social Work Program Coordinator, including clinical programming and daily operations of the program. Provides real time support in response to referrals Collaboratively develop policies and procedures for program operation and prepare reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use, while the IPVAP Social Work Program Coordinator is ultimately responsible for the aforementioned tasks. Support the IPVAP Social Work Program Coordinator with managing the program's budget and various control points assigned to the program within the assigned areas; manage and control the use of data related to these programs regarding day to day functioning and program evaluation in collaboration with the IPVAP Social Work Program Coordinator. In conjunction with the supervisor and IPVAP Social Work Program Coordinator, plans, organizes and directs administrative, operational, Veteran and personnel activities for the service. Conducts Veteran, family, Caregiver and VA employee interventions to facilitate the identification of intimate partner violence, psychiatric illness, emotional distress and social needs as treatment issues. Professional judgment, including the knowledge of normal and abnormal behavior, is an inherent competency applied in daily interactions with clients. Share the responsibility of managing the IPVAP consults with the IPVAP Social Work Program Coordinator, with primary oversight of the IPVAP Strength at Home (SAH) consults. As an Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program Senior Social Worker, the incumbent stays abreast of current federal and state legislation directed at Veterans, their family members, caregiver and/or VA employees who experience and/or use IPV. The incumbent will maintain a knowledge base of current theory and treatment modalities by reading professional journals, attending conferences, clinic seminars and teleconferences, and materials distributed through VA and private sector. meets the needs of customers while supporting VA missions. Consistently communicates and treats customers (Veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Incumbent provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the consumer constructively and appropriately. Incumbent protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, Federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Grade Determinations: Social Worker (Senior Social Worker), GS-12 The Senior Social Worker (Intimate Partner Assistance program) has at least two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure and should be in a specialized area of social work practice of which, one year must be equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Senior social workers have experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgement. Senior social workers are experts in their specialized area of practice. Senior social workers may have certification or other post-masters training from a national recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience in a specialty. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: (a) Skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in specialty treatment programs or with special patient populations.
