Duties
The Department of Interior Office of Inspector General (OIG), Information Technology Division is seeking a highly skilled IT Specialist to serve as an Information Systems Security Officer. In this role, you will perform information security risk analysis to identify vulnerabilities, contingency planning, and you will oversee systems evaluations, audits and reviews. Working as an IT Security Officer for OIG, you will be making a contribution in supporting cybersecurity for various investigative initiatives and special projects which may have a major impact on OIG goals and missions.
Major duties include:
Security risk analysis to identify vulnerabilities, contingency planning and disaster recovery processes.
Oversees system evaluations, audits and reviews.
Ensures a high degree of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of a variety of information management systems including software and network analysis, development, maintenance and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies and tools.
Reviews and develops/recommends changes to policies and strategies to ensure information security controls are consistent with federal government, DOI and OIG mission and guidelines.
Maintains OIG's Security Continuous Monitoring (ISCM) compliance within the framework of Federal Information Systems Modernization Act of 2014 (FISMA).
Participates in and conducts meetings, briefings and training; interacts with personnel at all levels in a dynamic work environment related to IT Security. Prepares a wide variety of draft and final reports.
Qualifications
All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Minimum Qualifications GS-13: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing all of the following:
Experience conducting security accreditation reviews for installed systems or networks;
Experience resolving IT integration security issues; and
Experience applying Cybersecurity concepts, principles, and standards including the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) to installed systems or networks.
In addition, applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
