Duties
Leads, oversees, coordinates and evaluates the work of employees performing Sustainment Specialist work; mentors and trains team members; and represents the team in dealings with the supervisor and other internal or external activities.
Determines parts supportability across all sources of supply for established and future shop workloads/special projects and work to mitigate potential supportability constraints.
Analyzes and reviews supportability planning documents and develops strategy to ensure necessary material is available.
Work with DLA Demand and Supply Planners and appropriate Air Force personnel to ensure demand/supply plans support known requirements to include supporting retail levels.
Resolves supportability problems that have an impact on production schedules.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Lead Inventory Management Specialist your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Conducting long range, mid-range and short term material support planning for established and future production workloads, to ensure material availability and serviceability.
Analyzing and reviewing supportability planning documents and developing availability strategy to ensure necessary material is available.
Working material supportability problems that could have an impact on production schedules and taking appropriate action to resolve them by coordinating with all sources of supply.

Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
