About the Position: This position is located in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties
OB/GYN experience preferred.
Assess acute and non-acute clinical problems.
Obtain and record a problem-oriented health history.
Order and interpret related laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Perform a systematic physical examination and interpret abnormal and normal findings to form a diagnosis regarding physical, emotional, or social disabilities.
Prescribe medications and initiates emergency care, as appropriate.
Conduct interdisciplinary and intradisciplinary collaboration with physicians regarding patient management, to include evaluating and revising therapeutic plans and managing high-risk, unstable, or extremely complex patients.
Participate in patient care rounds and conferences, presenting patient cases/topics and communicating patient management strategies to members of the patient care team.
Requirements
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

- This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Basic Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate's degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. You must attach a copy of you transcripts with your application package.
Advanced Practice Nurse Education: Applicants must possess a graduate or higher level Nurse Practitioner degree from an accredited educational program. You must attach a copy of your transcripts with your application package.
Foreign Nursing Schools: An official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. You must submit a copy of your certification with your application package.
Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. You must attach a copy of your license/registration with your application package.
Additional License Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) Positions: Applicants must possess a license or registration by the State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. You must attach a copy of your license/registration with your application package.
In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: At least one or more years of professional nursing experiencewhich includes: performing examination and assessments of patients, recording health history of patients, and ordering/interpreting laboratory and/or diagnostic tests. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Education
