About the Position: This position is located at the 59th Medical Wing - Joint Base San Antonio - Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center; Lackland AFB, Texas.
Duties
Perform various administrative and clerical duties in support of the Commander and Deputy Commander.
Prepare a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents for the office or organization.
Prepare and finalize reports, to include determining and modifying format, content and frequency requirements for the office or organization.
Proof-read and edit correspondence for typographical and grammatical accuracy in accordance with format requirements.
Utilize automated tracking system or software to track correspondence and establish/monitor suspense dates for actions within the office or organization.
Receive telephone call and greets visitors to ascertain the nature of the call or visit.
Maintain supervisor’s calendar to include coordinating and schedules meetings and/or conferences for supervisor.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes receiving telephone calls, maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings, and utilizing automated programs to perform administrative or clerical work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
