You will serve as a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND (MSC), COMMAND, CONTROL, COMMUNICATIONS, AND COMPUTER SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT (C4) (N6), CYBERSECURITY DIVISION (N62), CYBER SECURITY RISK MANAGEMENT BRANCH (N622) of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.
Duties
You will serve as the Afloat Type Authorization Information System Security Manager (ISSM).
You will ensure participation and assistance with system engineering activities, new system, capability development, installations, and future system and capability planning as related to cyber security.
You will ensure that updates on status and activities are briefed to MSC leadership to communicate future impacts and progress.
You will prepare A and A packages for submission to Navy Security Control Assessor and Navy Authorizing Office.
You will review all vulnerability testing to assess the current security posture of your assigned systems.
You will ensure that all patch testing is performed on all baseline systems and approve final test reports for release to the Fleet.
You will provide cybersecurity/technical reviews on all changes for afloat systems as a member of the Technical Review Board.
You will plan and administer the work performed by A and A contract staff and determine whether or not contractors performed work meets standards of adequacy.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- The employee may be required to work overtime on an emergent basis.
- The employee is required to meet IAM Level II position requirements as defined in DoD guidance within six months of assignment.
- This position is a Cybersecurity Workforce Management, Information Assurance Management (IAM) level II management position.
- This position is identified as performing Cyber Security functions and as such is designated with the primary Cyber Security Data Element Code (DCWF-722)
- Information Systems Security Management and as a condition of employment incumbents of the position are required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2, which include:
- Earn and maintain credentials from the Cyber IT/SCWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV M-5239.2) associated with the specialty area and level commensurate with the scope of major assigned duties for the position to which you are assigned
- Participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAVINST 1543.2. A minimum of 40 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually documented in a current individual development plan.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience and mastery of advanced IT principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices sufficient to develop and interpret policies, procedures, and strategies governing the planning and delivery of IT security.
Experience of the interrelationships between multiple IT specialties such as security, systems analysis, applications software, operating systems, networking services, and data management.
Experience with IT architecture.
Experience with new IT developments and applications; emerging technologies and the ability to visualize the potential for applying them to satisfy a commands mission and business requirements.
Experience and mastery of concepts, principles, methods, and practices in IT security and systems environments and operations sufficient to design, develop, implement, and protect the IT infrastructure.
Experience assessing the effectiveness of current systems and services and advise on the merits of proposed Information Assurance or Security projects.
Experience of information systems security protocols sufficient to integrate information systems security with other security disciplines and to ensure coordination and/or collaboration on security activities.
Experience and mastery of methods to conduct and certify security accreditations for systems applications.
Experience in applying information systems security principles and methods sufficient to achieve the operational acceptance of approved Information and Communications Systems, changes and modifications.
Experience performing oversight of Claimancy-wide IA Program compliance.
