Duties

Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multi-complex electronic integrated systems. Reviews and analyzes maintenance data; determines if criteria are sufficient to provide adequate test, troubleshooting and repair procedures; devises and recommends tests, procedural changes, or data corrections. Troubleshoots operational malfunctions and analyzes system performance utilizing aircrew debrief data, Technical Orders, schematic and wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, data analysis, system-specific test equipment and built in system tests. Recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and software malfunctions, and initiates material deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data. May upload and download chaff/flare dispensers. This hazardous task may involve the inspection, storage and handling of explosive devices; to include flares, chaff, impulse cartridges and similar items. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire-fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, serve as a security guard, remove snow, load and handle munitions, launch/recover and service aircraft, operate heavy equipment, etc. Completes operational checks, inspections, tests, trouble shooting, removal and replacement of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) which are linked with integrated systems and LRUs which are independent or associated with nonintegrated systems. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.

  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: E3 through E5 COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: 2A3X4 Series The policy to have a compatible MOS/AFSC has been suspended. When reinstated, you will have one year to meet the qualifications of this position or meet the requirements in the guidance set by NGB. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade. To include: Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately Ability to communicate clearly and effectively Skilled in duties such as, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes Ability to format and write English in reports and presentation formats Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting material Skilled in training, mentoring, leading, and problem-solving SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months experience in involved duties such as, inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying software controlled automated and manually controlled test stations, electronic circuit maintenance pods, peripherals, support equipment and associated subsystems. Knowledgeable of stations that are used to repair and maintain all avionics line-replaceable and pods. Skilled in analyzing performance results, running tests, inspecting, troubleshooting, identifying and isolating malfunctions modify or repair and reassemble test stations or electronic circuit maintenance pods and their associated peripherals. Skills include the ability to consider the complex inter-related variables arising from a mix of computer hardware and software, stimulus and measurement systems, and special purpose test subsystems. Experienced in analyzing malfunctions using schematics, logic and wiring diagrams, programming tables, computer program flow charts, software user guides, computer program listings and factory drawings. Skilled in the diagnoses of circuit operating characteristics using computer query, system peculiar test equipment, and computer diagnostics. Ability to accurately identify, isolate, repair, align, and adjust complete multi-system complex malfunctions of the aircraft where target acquisition and tracking, weapons control, aircraft attitude control, navigation and other complex functions are performed by numerous systems which are extensively interconnected with data feedback loops. An applicant must demonstrate the identified specialized experience competencies (skills, knowledge, abilities and behaviors) to qualify for this position. Must have at least 12 months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade. Specialized Experience Requirements for NGB Federal Wage System Positions for claiming civilian job experience: Creditable experience must have been performed at least 30 consecutive days and be properly documented. Experience in the same line of work can only be credited on the basis of a regular 40-hour workweek. Hours per week MUST be documented on resume to receive any credit.
