This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

The Primary Purpose of the Position is: The incumbent serves as the Social Worker Program Coordinator for the Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP). The WVPP manager will oversee the administrative and clinical aspects of the Workplace Violence Prevention Program.
Functions/Duties include but not limited to:
The incumbent is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of the WVPP for the VANTHCS, including specialty team functions.
Provides administrative supervision of education technicians/staff assigned to the Workplace Violence Prevention Program.
Manages and coordinates the creation, implementation, operations, and monitoring of all aspects and components of the WVPP.
Leads a team of administrative and clinical executives to assess, triage, and manage patient-generated disruptive behavior and employee-generated disruptive behavior.
Collaborates with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other interdisciplinary staff and outside agencies to coordinate the prevention of disruptive behavior.
Coordinates a team to manage the workplace behavioral risk assessment and facilitate training programs based on risk exposure to disruptive behavior. Is proactive in identifying potential crisis situations and responds appropriately.
Promotes positive relations and effectively collaborates with internal and external stake holders including legal representatives, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of the Inspector General, court officials including Assistant U.S. Attorney, police (VA and community), and community providers.
Chairs or co-chairs the Disruptive Behavior Committee and is the team lead for the following DBC subcommittees: Threat Assessment Team: leads a team of mental health professionals to assess, triage and manage patient-generated disruptive behaviors; Risk Mitigation Team: leads a team of DBC members in identifying ways to mitigate risk through program development, interventions, policy, or environmental design, derived through data driven results; and Consultation Team: provides consultation on management strategies for various programs/sections throughout the VANTHCS for challenging patients.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Current state requirements may be found on the OHRM website http://vaww.va.gov/OHRM/T38Hybrid/.
English Language Proficiency: Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. 7403(f).
Grade Determinations: Social Worker (Program Coordinator), GS 13
Experience/Education: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidates may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA). In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all the following KSAs. It is recommended to provide a written narrative format of the subparagraphs below:
a. Skill in coordinating and implementing one or more specialty program(s), across the facility.
b. Skill in local policy and practice development, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program as prescribed by the program handbook or national directive.
c. Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s).
d. Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to further program goals and enhance patient centered care.
e. Ability to provide the full range of supervisory duties including assignment of work to be performed; performance evaluations; and selection of staff, training, and recommendation of awards, advancements, and when appropriate, disciplinary action.
f. Ability to oversee the fiscal matters of the functions supervised (including fund controls, contracts, and equipment expenditures), forecast resource and equipment needs, and administer the allocated budget.
g. Knowledge of organizational structure and impact on program operations.
Preferred Experience:
Experience as a supervisor of staff
Training and/or job experience conducing Violence Risk Assessments
Experience providing Crisis Intervention and Safety Planning
Experience as a Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior trainer
In process of or has completed the Certified Threat Manager (CTM) examination
