You will serve as a MATERIAL HANDLER in the Installation Support Directorate (ISD), Consolidated Material Support Center of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.

Duties

You will use automated material identification equipment such as bard code wands, computer terminals, and laser scanners connected to inventory tracking, and point of sale systems. You will read, interpret, and follow regulations on specialized handling and packing methods and techniques to select and pack hazardous material in appropriate containers. You will ensure safe receipt, storage, and movement of hazardous and toxic substance such as certain types of chemicals, or radioactive material in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You must possess or be able to obtain forklift training and certification within six (6) months from date of hire.
  • You will be required to attend and pass Hazardous Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) course within six (6) months of being hired . Training will be provided by Environmental Affairs and Safety personnel.
  • Work requires frequent physical exertion when lifting, moving and carrying items weighing up to forty (40) pounds.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: having the ability to perform common tasks including loading and unloading shipments from trucks and other material conveyances using forklifts. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
