These positions are located in the Pacific Northwest Region, Region 6 in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and the Fremont-Winema National Forest. The position is an Engineering Equipment Operator Supervisor, serving as construction and maintenance crew supervisor responsible for construction, maintenance, supervision and management of assigned fleet. Duties

Operate engineering equipment, such as graders, tractors with bulldozer or angledozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes, trench diggers, and large industrial tractors. Excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth to rough specifications on all types of terrain. Adjust equipment attachments for proper positioning and working order, making adjustments without stopping the power unit or the equipment. Perform a variety of fleet management responsibilities including: procurement, disposition, rotation, repair, and maintenance of vehicles in accordance with established policies and procedures.

• Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

• Subject to one-year supervisory probationary period (unless prior service is creditable). New USDA supervisors must successfully complete all components of the required new supervisory training program before the end of their probationary period.
