About the Position: Serves as a movement therapist/yoga instructor offering a full array of the most current and emerging evidenced based on integrative medicine approaches for patients with acute and chronic pain who have not responded well to conventional treatment modalities. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Recruitment or relocation incentives MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates.

Duties

Establish yoga treatment plans and goals for patients. Provide individual and group yoga therapy sessions. Adapt yoga protocols to match patient ability and physical limitations. Adapt treatment plans in an interdisciplinary setting based upon patient progress. Conduct training classes to inform healthcare providers and/or specific patient groups about the benefits of yoga therapy.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Selectee will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced certification (e.g., Advanced Life Support) does not supersede BLS completion.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.
• This position is Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disaster, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
• A Personnel Security Investigation with Inquires (NACI) is required.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing yoga therapy and/or educating patients on yoga therapy techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as: Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Kinesiotherapy, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science or Kinesiology. OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
