About the Position: These positions are located at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, with the Directorate of Missile and Aerospace Readiness (DMAR).
Duties
Perform electrical/electronic testing, troubleshooting, and modification of air and missile defense systems.
Perform decanning, mechanical disassembly/assembly, and cleaning of missile assemblies.
Install assemblies at test stations and perform computer-controlled testing.
Transport missile components from storage areas to test areas.
Provide recommendations for resolving operating conditions or system problems.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
- Mobility Agreement required to assigned areas world-wide to support the mission.
- Business travel (temporary duty TDY) may be required up to 15% of the time.
- Pre-employment and annual physical examinations required.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968; persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible.
- Position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
- Ammunition certification in accordance with AMC-R 350-4 is required within one year of appointment.
- Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives Screening in accordance with AR 190-11 required initially and annually.
- This is a temporary position scheduled to last one year and may be extended up to 5 years.
- Position requires the incumbent to maintain a state driver’s license.
Qualifications
This position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment not to exceed 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition.
Position may be filled as a temporary appointment not to exceed 1 year, if candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) assisting higher-graded technicians in performing electronic testing, troubleshooting, and modification of missiles; 2) analyzing test equipment malfunctions, isolating defects, repairing and/or replacing components; and 3) preparing computer test data for electronic transmission. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18 ) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
