Duties

Responsible for developing and ensuring effective, efficient delivery of facility, personnel security and safety for the BOP Director, and when deemed necessary, the BOP Executive Staff while engaged in an official capacity. Oversees the Protective Operations Unit (POU), which is responsible for the direct physical protection of the Director and, when deemed necessary, BOP Executive staff. Required to carry a firearm. Ensures that the Executive Protection Agents (EPA) maintain close body coverage of the Director at all venues. Coordinates the details of security, logistics, and related administrative matters with executive level staff to include the Director or designee. Analyzes, approves, and communicates relevant protective operations, threat assessment factors and applies subject matter expertise to the protective detail operations.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience planning and coordinating all aspects of personnel, communications security and physical security to include conducting high risk escorts, orchestrating and participating in principle protection details, etc. Experience developing, revising, and recommending security policies, procedures, standards, and regulations. Experience providing guidance to lower-level specialists regarding security processes, making impromptu decisions, and leading staff in stressful situations. Experience applying practical security principles, concepts, and methods in carrying out assignments, and communicating with the public while doing so. Experience in planning and executing crisis management team training, conducting mock exercises, and leading agency Special Operations Response Teams, Disturbance Control Teams, or equivalent. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. **Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application.**
