This position is located at Freedom Lanes Bowling & Entertainment Center, MWR Department, on Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida. The Incumbent is the Bowling Operations Manager and responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Bowling Facility including the bowling center mechanics, recreation aides, recreation assistant and any related equipment.
Duties
This position reports directly to the Community Recreation Director and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Bowling Center, which includes 16 lanes, pro shop, equipment maintenance and repair, facilities and a snack bar.
Works with the Community Recreation Director to implement higher level directives, formulate procedures and programs to ensure high standards of recreational and promotional efforts.
Promotes, schedules, and manages the conduct of tournaments, matches and other special events.
Carries out necessary liaison with other managers in support of Center activities.
Acts on internal and patron problems with minimal adverse impact on the bowling programs.
Assists with planning, organizing work, and managing internal resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies.
Assists with preparing financial plan, budgets, inventories, cost controls and related records and reports.
Reviews the financial status of the Center and recommends changes considered necessary.
Trains new employee's prepares work schedules, counsels' employee's when necessary and recommends personnel actions when necessary.
Completes a Daily Activity Report (DAR) to ensure accountability for balancing and reconciliation of daily sales transactions. Performs inventory of various types of equipment, supplies and any other items deemed to have cash value.
Promotes customer service awareness and information, requisitioning merchandise, ensuring stock levels and schedules.
Develops working partnership with both internal departments, tenet commands and patrons to support and benefit MWR programs. Seeks ways to promote and market MWR facilities and events through outreach support on base.
Provides administrative and operational oversight for short/long range goals, business plan objectives and program standards.
This position performs supervisory duties which include assigning work, defining priorities, selecting and recommending applicants for hire, evaluating pay adjustments, providing or recommending training, initiating correcting actions and recommending formal disciplinary action as warranted.
Ability to work independently, make sound decisions and have the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to individuals and groups of varying demographics, ages and interests. Ability to create, negotiate, implement, and sustain partnerships via various MWR agreements. Ability to maintain a clear and accurate data base. Must hold valid driver's license.
Requirements
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.

- May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
- A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.

- Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the satisfactory employment reference checks and receipt of proof of education (where applicable).
- For positions requiring travel more than twice per year, selectee will be required to obtain and maintain in good standing a government-issued Travel Card for official government travel purposes.
- The work involves normal risks and discomforts associated with a bowling environment such as standing for long periods of time. Work may require sitting, walking, bending, lifting of moderately heavy items up to 40 pounds.
- CPR/First Aid certification required but can be achieved within 60 days of hire.
Qualifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Knowledge gained through relevant education and training (i.e. Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Marketing, Business or closely related field) and/or equivalent recreation related work experience.
Must have a minimum of one year of experience that demonstrates progressively responsible administrative, professional, and management of a facility or program.
Six months minimum technical work involving knowledge and application of bowling, bowling equipment and facilities activities.Knowledge and understanding of USBC rules and regulations preferred.Knowledge of NAF policies and procedures preferred.
Knowledge of the QAMF POS operating system, CDE Bowling League Secretary, Pro Shop and Coaching experience is a plus.
Must have the ability to effectively supervise staff.Must have the skills necessary to effectively deal with subordinates, management officials and patrons of varied backgrounds.
Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing.
