The primary purpose of this position is to be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and train other technicians which troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, modify, test, calibrate and certify a variety if standard and nonstandard Electronic/Mechanical/Physical Dimensional, Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)
Duties
Responsible to their Supervisor and Work Leader for assuring that the work or training assignments of the group are carried out
Serves as subject matter expert for a crew of mechanics engaged in the repair, modification, calibration and certification of Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)
Troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, modifies, test, calibrates and certifies a variety of standard and nonstandard complex test equipment.
Maintains records and documents actions
Provides advice and technical assistance to supported organizations
Demonstrates proper work Methods
Communicates and demonstrates to other workers, safety practices and procedures, established safety rules and regulations and promotes a safe and clean work environment

- May be required to work rotating shifts or uncommon tours of duty. Subject to call back to meet emergency situations
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program
- This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
- Must keep abreast of the latest developments in the electronics field and in state-of-the-art test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment and standards
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver license is required for the position
- Frequently lifts and carries, unassisted, items weighing up to 40 pounds. Sometimes require to lift and carry items weighing more than 40 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
- The work requires working in a sitting position for extended periods of time, and frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping are required.
- Employee typically works in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas.
- Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components
- May be required to work at remote user locations under variable conditions or within clean room environments where special garments including head coverings, shoe coverings, and gloves are required.
- Exposed to the possibility of electric shock; burns from electrical or RF energy or hot solder, and cuts and bruises

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the 2600 Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
