You will serve as a HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICIAN in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, UTILITIES AND ENVIRONMENTAL MAINTENANCE DIVISION of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.
Duties
You will complete routine installation, maintenance, and repairs on electric power control equipment, distribution lines, or electric-generating equipment.
You will replace wiring, brushes, electrical connections and insulating parts as necessary.
You will work from building plans and engineering drawings to repair existing electrical systems, controls, and equipment.
You will troubleshoot power distribution systems in the event of a power outage.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Performing high voltage electrical technical support, locating cable and duct banks as needed for mapping and plans, and performing field inspections of substations, cable, generators, and buildings for repair or replacement; 2) Installing and maintaining electric motors on various manual automatic controls and overhauling and repairing electrical equipment, disassembling, assembling, tracing circuits and locating defects; 3) Troubleshooting power distribution system in the event of a power outage and performing duties in construction, maintenance and repair of electrical distribution systems (overhead and underground); 4) Performing chemical analysis on transformer and breaker insulating oil that include interfacial tension, acid titration, dielectric strength, and specific gravity to insure fluid meets operational criteria.
