Duties
You will provide the engineering and technical management actions for the Supervisor of Shipbuilding.
You will perform engineering control and support functions to carry out Technical Authority as mandated.
You will provide consultative services, monitor various programs, and review approval of engineering studies, drawings, test procedures, technical manuals, other technical documentation, and design change proposals.
You will plan, develop, coordinate, and carry through to completion several projects and phases of work and involving the efforts of other technical personnel within SUPSHIP and in the contractor's plant.
You will ensure specification compliance, good engineering practice, and completeness of documentation.
You will ensure that the Command's mission, vision, and values are integrated into goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services.
You will provide expert advice to senior colleagues and serve in liaison with and provide engineering insight to individuals in other engineering disciplines inside and outside the command.
You will consult with the supervisor when assignments will have significant unforeseen impact on the program or when they must depart from policy
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Qualifications
GS-13:
In addition to the basic requirements, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer applying engineering methods and techniques to develop solutions and provide advice for the efficiency of combat systems.
GS-12:
In addition to the basic requirements, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer applying engineering methods and techniques to recommend solutions and provide advice for the efficiency of combat or related systems.
