Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
As an Aging Services Program Specialist (Nutritionist), you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:
Serving as an expert nutritionist at the federal agency level by participating in the development, administration, implementation, and evaluation of the Older Americans Act (OAA) nutrition program nationwide within the context of home and community-based service systems.
Representing the Administration on Aging (AoA) and the Administration for Community Living (ACL) at national or regional conferences or public or private agencies and private sector organizations, as a speaker or resource person. Responding to congressional, federal agency and national organization queries related to assigned area and providing available material on related matters in the area of responsibility.
Serving as project officer for grants and contracts in assigned areas, responsible for the review of proposals, supervision and monitoring of grantee and contractors in fulfilling requirements of grants/contracts. Working with the Office of Grants Management (OGM) and other DHHS offices in the management of grants and contracts.
Independently identifying policy issues and making recommendations to the Office Director for modifying existing policies impacting the development and delivery of Title IIIC and IIID to meet the needs of older Americans. Monitoring assigned projects and evaluating the suitability of the goals, strategy, and expectations; appropriateness of the evaluation, design, and measures of success; and replicability of the project on a larger scale considering issues of culture, language, and changing social values.

Qualifications
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Basic Qualifications: You must meet one of the items listed below:
Possess a 4-year bachelor's or higher degree in behavioral or social science from an accredited college or university; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Must provide transcripts)
Possess a combination of education and experience -- that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Must provide transcripts)
Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Minimum Qualifications: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing at least three (3)of the following:
Managing grants or contracts, including monitoring of performance, and/or oversight within a human or social service organization.
Developing and/or maintaining relationships with other agencies and individuals seeking information about nutrition, health and wellness programs for older Americans.
Assisting in development of federal, state and/or local regulations, policies, procedures, or guidelines related to nutrition services.
Interpreting and explaining policies under the Older Americans Act Nutrition program.
Making recommendations to leadership for implementation changes under the Older Americans Act Nutrition program.
