About the Position: This position is located in the Maintenance and Demil Division of the Letterkenny Munitions Center located at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Duties
Perform tasks in connection with the assembly, test, modification, repair, and disassembly of component of the Joint Missile Systems (JMS).
Perform mechanical inspection of missiles and missile components such as corrosion, damage, loose or missing hardware, proper stenciling, and nomenclature.
Fault isolate failures and repair or replace missile components.
Apply Modification Work Orders (MWOs) to warhead, safety and arming devices, rocket motors, squibs, and other explosive type items.
Paint or spot paint the missiles, components and containers.
Transport the JMS assets throughout the facility using forklifts with up to 15,000 lbs. lift capacity.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance is required.
- The applicant must pass a pre-employment physical and subsequent periodic medical examinations in accordance with DoD 6055-5-M. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- This position is subject to pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter in compliance with the Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Program.
- Must meet ammunition certification requirements IAW AMC-R 350-4 within one year of appointment.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
- Operate forklift up to 10K lb. capacity.
- You may be required to travel (TDY) up to 5% annually.
- Incumbent is required to successfully complete a variety of hazardous material and explosive material classes.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Job requires frequent standing, bending, and working in tiring positions, with occasional sitting down at work benches. Incumbent is required to lift, push, or pull a variety of items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally some above that weight.
WORKING CONDITIONS: May work in an environmentally controlled area (extreme heat or cold) or in areas lighted, heated and ventilated. Subject to high frequency noise, cuts, bruises, and burns or shocks caused by high voltage energy. Some outside work may also be involved. Incumbent will be exposed to hazardous explosives and chemicals and is required to wear protective clothing (e.g. conductive shoes, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, safety glasses, etc.)
Education
