This vacancy is for an Administrative Support Specialist in the Office of Export Enforcement Bureau of Industry and Security within the Department of Commerce.

Duties

As an Administrative Support Specialist, the incumbent is responsible for assisting Special Agents in assessing the effectiveness of all the administrative functions performed in the Department. As an Administrative Support Specialist, you will perform the following duties at the full performance level: Devise and recommend changes in administrative procedures and office policies to ensure their applicability to changing needs or changes in administrative regulations. Ensures the execution of processes and operations related to all administrative support functions for the Office are efficient and customer focused. Reviews all correspondence prepared for the supervisor's signature for grammar, construction, format, and compliance with the supervisor's viewpoint. Maintains records of travel authorization, travel vouchers, and requests for reimbursement for local travel. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Administrative Support Specialist GS-0301-9/11 FPL-13 positions within the Bureau of Industry and Security in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience. Qualification requirements in the vacancy announcements are based on the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook, which contains federal qualification standards. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-9 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Providing administrative or technical support to management on various administrative activities, such as travel, budget/financial management, procurement, property management, personnel management, and/or records management; and schedule meetings and prepare agendas or take meeting minutes. -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION:Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree; Or successfully completed two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE To qualify at the GS-11 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Providing administrative or technical support to management on various administrative activities, such as travel, budget/financial management, procurement, property management, personnel management, and/or records management; and assisting with evaluating administrative policies, programs, and/or operational activities to improve programmatic efficiency. -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION:Completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M if related, in a field related to this position. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
